Romantic Hairstyles for VDay
We’ve showed you how to care for your hair and stay glamorous everyday, but what about for those special occasions? Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. With a sweetie or just close friends, it’s a day to celebrate the love in your life! To get just the right look, I’ve put together a list of romantic styles that will suit the occasion perfectly.
1. Relaxed Waves
Ahh, yes. Waves are an iconic style of glamor. It shows off soft, touchable hair. To recreate this look, work volumizer through you damp hair. If your hair is already thick, remember to use les product or try a shine instead to reduce frizz. Follow with blow-drying your hair. Toss your hair while blow drying to really achieve volume. On fully dry hair, take a one-inch curling iron, and hold it vertically to spiral oe-inch sections at a time. Don’t clamp the iron entirely shut. We want to create loose waves. Also, start curling from the ear level down. This will keep the look more loose and natural. After you’ve curled all your hair, let the waves cool, then finger brush your curls and adjust each piece for a softened effect.

2. Wispy Knot
Start 2 inches ffrom your scalp and tease the roots with a fine-tooth comb using broad strokes. If your hair is already curly, skip this step to avoid too much frizz. Next, gather the hair at the nape of the neck in a low ponytail. secure it with an elastic about an inch away from the calp. The goal is to have a loosely gathered ponytail. Follow this by teasing the underside of the bun, and wind it into a loose bun. Secure the bun with U-shaped hairpins on each side of the knot. Be sure to secure the bun at the bottom as well.

3. Soft Blowout
Blow dry the hair straight with a lartge round brush. To get the best smooth effect, use a boar bristle brush. Curl the ends with a large-barrel iron. Arrange small sections and roll the ends under. If the curl isnt holding, try to hold the curl in place with a large clip until it has cooled. After all the ends are curled, brush through the ends to create large chunky coils.

4. Side Bun
Wearing the bun on the side can create a more charmign feel adn avoid the matronly or librarian feel. Try it with a deep side part. Comb the hair neatly and brush it into a low ponytail on the side of your neck. Be sure the bun is on the opposite side from the part. Secure the pony tail about 2-inches away from the center so it’s off-center. If you create the bun too far to the side, the bun will look oddly placed. Tease your ponytail a bit prior to putting it in a bun to help it stay in place. Using u-shaped pins, secure the bun after twisting it into your desired shape.

5. Jumbo Curls
To create this look, hot rollers are needed. Rollers allow curls to look more natural than a curling iron. Depending on your hairtype, use large rollers for thick/coarse hair, and medium-size rollers for fine hair. Roll hair in sections as wide as the roller and begin from the middle of the head, working backwards. Be sure to roll the hair completely to your scalp. Once the curls have set, brush through the curls with your fingers for a soft finish.

6. Accessorize
Nothing is more romantic than putting flowers in your hair. Although, this can proove to be quite a challenge for some. It’s easy for this look to come off hokey instead of ethereal. For a sophisticated look, choose a pin with something like an orchid or gardenia. Avoid gaudy or hippie looking flowers like daisies or bright colors roses. Choose soft pastel colors or white. In some rare cases, a bright purple might be doable for brunettes. The placement of the piece is just as important. Be sure not to put it directly on the top of your head. Place the accessory on the side, preferably right avoe an ear, or on the side of a low bun or ponytail. If it looks odd to you in the mirror, it’s definitely not going to look any better to someone else.

7. Loose Braid
Loose braids are always a no fail look. Make a messy center part in already dry hair. Gather the hair very loosely at the nape of your neck. Let the pieces fall loosely around your face. Begin by braiding the hair tightly and then secure the ends. After, pull the sides of the braid to loosen it slightly. You can even try doing a side-placed braid, or pull the braid to one side for an asymmetrical look.

8. Lush Wave
For a romantic 40’s Hollywood look, try a polished lush wave. Begin by blow-drying the hair straight. If your face shape allows, part your hair down the middle. Using hot rollers, coil small sections of your hair up and under your scalp. Once the hair is cool, remove the rollers and run a paddle brush through the hair. This will ease the curls into a big wave. To finish, smooth shin serum through your hands and over the outer layer of the hair, avoiding the roots.
