Long and Stunning! Beyonce sure gave us a surprise when she announced she was pregnant, but this soon mom to be is looking stylish in her side swept bangs and ponytail. The Ombre color in her hair really radiates her skin tone or is she just glowing? Chanel is rocking her cute side braid along her hairline. The newest fashion forward hairstyle. Always looking good, Katie Holmes is rocking some major beach waves in her hair. Love it! So simple yet chic. Can’t beat the bangs like Kelly Rowlands! She sure knows how to wear them with style and class! The sleek straight look really compliments her bangs. Our young star, Demi Lovato puts on an ombre look with voluptuous curls giving her tons of volume! She looks great!

What’s Hot? Side Swept Hair!

Posted in General on August 24th, 2011 by Nancy – Be the first to comment

We’ve been seeing side swept hair all over fashion magazine and on the red carpet today! It’s the hottest look right now, whether they’re up-dos, left down, or adorned with a jeweled accessory. These are all chic side swept looks. Check out the celebrities that successfully pulled off the trend!

1. Lucy Liu Side Swept Up-do Side Bun! This is the perfect no-hassle style. Just pull hair to one side and secure into bun, and bobby pin the loose ends! So easy and elegant!

2. America Ferrera side swept romantic half up-do! Get her look by taking the top half of your hair and sweep it over to one side of your head (near your ear). Pin it into place with a large barrette or jeweled clip, and loosely curl the ends of your hair. You can bobby pin any loose strands away from your face for a more clean look, but I prefer the messy look.

3. Carrie Underwood side swept side ponytail! It’s so simple yet so chic! Start off by securing your hair into a ponytail. It looks best if hair is curled so use an iron to curl just the ends of your hair, letting the ponytail fall loosely over your shoulders.

4. Anne Hathaway side swept flowing waves! Looking beautiful as always. Get Anne’s look by first creating a deep side part, then grab a handful of hair and loosely curl with a 2″ curling iron for the big wavy effect.

Go ahead and get your perfect side swept hair just like these celebrities! It’s so easy, looks super chic and you’ll instantly fall in love with the style like I did!

Style Tip: Get That Perfect Chignon!

Posted in General on August 17th, 2011 by Nancy – Be the first to comment

When I tie my hair back, I like to put it up in style. A chignon aka soft bun is my go to! It’s an easy, classic and elegant look that is seen all over the red carpets and in fashion magazines! It works best for anyone with medium to long hair. Put some curls in it and give it more style!

chignon

Here are some tips on how to get your perfect chignon!

  • You’ll want to start off by deciding what kind of part you want. I prefer to do a side part.
  • Gather hair into a ponytail: Make sure you keep the ponytail low at the base of the neck.
  • Twist Hair: For a smoother look, put gel on the ponytail to keep it manageable and clean, and twist hair of the ponytail.
  • Wrap hair around ponytail: Once you get the the ends of your wrap, make sure to secure with another hair tie.
  • Secure chignon with hairpins: Again, slick some gel on your hair to keep any loose hair in place, or make it messy (which is my favorite style)
  • Add accents: Clip in some fresh flowers for an added enhancement to your look!

And Voila! The perfect chignon! Have fun with this style and strut it with confidence!

Hair Lesson: How to Use a Clipless Curling Iron

Posted in General on August 11th, 2011 by Nancy – Be the first to comment

Have you always wondered how to use a clipless curling iron without burning your fingers? More and more stylists today are using a clipless curling iron, it turns out that getting rid of the clip can give you a more modern, less prom-like curl or wave, depending on how you work it. My favorite way to work the clipless curling iron is by wrapping 2-inch sections of hair around the rod and leaving an inch out at the ends so that you get cool, relaxed waves.

First you want to decide if you should get a 19mm round clipless curling iron by Enzo Milano or a 25mm round clipless iron by Enzo Milano. Both play different roles. The 19mm iron creates smaller and more elegant curls while the 25mm iron will create a more beach wave feel.

These irons are perfect for you if you get annoyed when a regular curling iron gives you lines and kinks from the clamp and just want a perfect tousled, beach wave look or smaller more modern elegant curls.

Now for the good part, here is how to use it:
1.) If you’re a newbie, or if you’re in a rush, throw a heat-proof glove on. The Enzo Milano irons comes with one so that you can touch the iron and not burn yourself.
2.) Point the tip of the iron downward and wrap a one-inch section of hair around the rod, winding it away from your face.
3.) Let it sit for 10 seconds, then release.
4.) Repeat on all of your hair.
5.) Flip your head over and break up the curls with your fingers or brush out for a softer look.

And voila! You just created perfect curls! Have fun with this clipless curing iron and share your styling ideas with us!

How to Get a French Braid Along your Hairline!

Posted in General on August 3rd, 2011 by Nancy – Be the first to comment

The french side braid is coming quite popular among our A-list celebrities! We’ve seen this style on a lot of celebrities today like Lauren Conrad, Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson. It’s a simple look that can be seen as cute and fun or even elegant and fancy. This type of braid is an easy way to dress up any look.

Follow these simple steps and strut your hairline french braid!

Step 1: Grab a piece of hair that starts at your natural part, and is about an inch wide. Instead of dividing it into the usual three sections, separate it into 2 pieces.

Step 2: Criss-cross the two pieces by bringing the one that’s closest to your face underneath the other. Then, add a small section of hair, from underneath the braid, to the piece that’s now closest to your face. Criss-cross the two sections, again by bringing the one that’s closest to your face underneath the other piece.

Step 3: Continue those steps until the braid reaches behind your ear, where you are able to secure it with two bobby pins places in the shape of an X to get it secured tightly.

Now that you ladies know the secret to this hairstyle, try it on and have fun with it!

Say “I do” to your hair!

Posted in General on August 1st, 2011 by Nancy – Be the first to comment

They say that your wedding day is the biggest day of your life, as it is the one true day where every event of the day is geared towards making your wedding day more beautiful and meaningful. It also happens to be the one day where all eyes are on YOU! and how beautiful you will be looking from your shoes, to your dress, to your jewelry and even your wedding hairstyle! It’s the time where you’ll be photographed the most, and wedding photos are meant to last a lifetime, so the last thing you want is to cringe every time your friends and family flip open a wedding album.

Here are my favorite 2011 wedding hairstyles that you’ll fall in love with as well!

Let it flow: The Wave

Wedding Waves

Wedding Waves

23" Wavy Clip-In Hair Extensions by Jessica Simpson hairdo

23" Wavy Clip-In Hair Extensions by Jessica Simpson hairdo

This elegant wavy “down-do” requires the bride to-be to have soft, romantic curls and looks particularly pretty if you have a very long veil.

The wave style will look tasteful when the bangs are either slicked back or side swept. Since it is worn down, a strapless wedding gown suits this style the best!

Add some 23″ Wavy Clip-In Hair Extensions by Jessica Simpson hairdo to get that perfect long length and perfectly curled waves! Adding extensions always give your hair more body and volume which is what all women want!

A little bit of both worlds: Half Up, Half Down

Wedding Half-Do

Wedding Half-Do

Grace Synthetic Hairpiece by easihair

Can’t decide if you want to have your hair up or down? Rest easy, do both! Get the half-up, half-down wedding hair of your dreams!

To create this look, try on the Grace Synthetic Hairpiece by easihair. I would recommend curling all your hair first, then pulling half your hair back and securing it with bobby pins. Grab the Grace Synthetic Hairpiece and clip it in the center where the bobby pins are, hiding them underneath the hairpiece.

After all is done, I like to add small fresh flowers tucked in the hair for a complete wedding look! And voila, your wedding hair is ready to be photographed!

Classic up-do: Buns with a Twist

Wedding up-do

Wedding Bun

Elegance Monofilament Hairpiece by easihair

Keep it classic with a bun. Remember to keep the bun low, if you want more styling options slide it to the side for a side bun look which is also very elegant with a classic twist!

For you ladies with short hair, get a hold of the Elegance Monofilament Hairpiece by easihair. Just pull your hair pack in a small ponytail and clip the bun in your desired area, low-centered or low and off to the side. Either style, you’ll be looking beautiful with this up-do. Don’t forget to add small flowers around the bun to give it more spotlight!
