The 2011 American Music Awards (AMA) came with a bang! We saw some amazing hairdo’s pass through the red carpet. You won’t see Katy Perry with the same outfit and hairstyle and Taylor Swift is known for her simplicity and elegance.  Here are some of our favorite hair picks:

Selena Gomez looks absolutely stunning with her soft waves pulled to one side, with soft highlights at the ends of her hair. A true beauty! This is by far one of our favorite looks on her.

Like a true star, Jennifer Morrison is sporting the infamous side braid with soft waves. This is a great look to show off her facial features with elegance! She has this natural look that we all wish we had. With darker ends, this ombre look has just the right amount of color tones.

No matter where she is spotted, Taylor Swift always looks amazing! She straightened her hair this time around and just like her natural beautiful curls, it was gorgeous. A classic side pony with a hint of a loose look bound around with her own hair. Ladies, this is an easy look to pull off and look how amazing it turns out!

We love this shoulder length crimped hairstyle on Hedi Klum. She is dazzling like always. This is another style not many people are wearing right now, but we think it’s going to be a big hit! So start the trend and be the few to rock this look.

Last but not least, Katherine Heigl’s short up-do has made her a hair icon on this red carpet! Who says styling short hair is difficult? With and up-do twist and braid, she is just looking lovely that evening. Pair it with long earrings and you’ll be turning heads left and right.

Get the Perfect Ponytail!

We have been seeing so many ponytails on the sidewalk and on every red carpet these days! This is fabulous because it’s so easy to do and so effortless.

Here are 5 tips for creating the perfect ponytail:

1. Never wear your ponytail at the same height every time, unless it’s low and loose. Varying the height of the ponytail will not cause breakage of the hair! It’s always fun to mix up your ponytail anyways, do some low, mid-height, high and even some side ponytails, which is all the trend right now.

2. Keep in mind of volume! A rule of thumb: the lower you go, the more volume you should have. High ponytails can be tight and sleek (not a must, but very possible). If you are going for a mid-height ponytail, be sure to give it a little volume, but not too much. Do this by securing your hair in an elastic band a little bit away from your head, and then pull tight for volume. From there you can get a lift by grabbing hold of your hair on the top of your head, and pulling it up and out away from the root. For low ponytails, they should be loose, the more undone the better it looks ladies!

3. Add some spice and get texturized! The high pony or low pony not working out smoothly for you? Try texturizing your hair by scrunching a little moose into your hair or spraying a little texturizer. It’ll re-boost your curls for a messy-cool vibe or if you have straight hair, give it some definition.

4. Don’t forget to accessorize. Still think your ponytail needs something extra for an added kick? Use headbands to help keep a bump of volume in place or pin in bows and flowers, on the side or underneath, for a super-feminine vibe. You can even tie in a pretty, silk scarf…the options are endless. Get creative!

5. Quick and easy shortcut! For a fast and easy ponytail check out the Ponytail by Jessica Simpson hairdo. It’s made with Tru2life fibers so you can curl or straighten this look to your liking.
