This season, I’m a fan of the winter-white look, stark and bare makeup with rosy cheeks for day, and dark smokey plum eyes, defined brows and barely-there pink shimmer gloss lips for evening events.

And for the hair? Well, I’ve been inspired by the cover of November’s W Magazine. Demi Moore wears her iconic raven hair 24/7, but I think it’s the perfect winter hair style. The ultimate winter look: pair sky high boots, a cashmere Vince sweater with leggings and fantastically long ebony center-split hair. It’s perfectly edgy, classy, and refined high fashion look that’s low-maintanence and easy to put together.

At 47, Demi Moore is still a goddess. I remember her from St. Elmo’s fire as part of the whole Brat Pack scene from the 80’s. Even then, her beauty was striking as was her fashion. Below, is the perfect Holiday look. Simple, loose hair with a stunning dress and statement jewelry.

Demi’s always been known for her long dark locks. She’s never strayed from her iconic style of center-split straight raven hair. She’s worn it a number of waves but has never changed the basic style and cut. Honestly, there’s no need to! Don’t be afraid to be simple this season.

The only thing Demi’s stylist has done to her hair is add some texture for a more evening appeal. You can re-create this look with a medium sized barrel curling iron, slowly curling 1″ sections at a time. Let them be a bit messy and non-uniform. You want that slightly unkempt look for this style. Finish up with some texturizing spray all over, and scrunch a bit from the bottom up.

Personally, I cheat. My hair is naturally wavy, so I just dry my hair halfway and finish up with a diffuser and then scrunch. I’ll tame some random hairs with a curling iron if necessary. Pretty easy, right?

Here’s Demi, with her drool-worthy younger husband. Now that we have the hair, perfected the makeup and spent tons on fabulous clothes…where do we find the guy? LOL.

Absolutely amazing. I’m totally inspired! I hope you are too! ;)

Nancy http:// <![CDATA[Fresh Accessory Ideas!]]> http://site.voguewigs.com/blog/?p=295 2009-10-16T23:50:54Z 2009-10-16T23:47:24Z As beauty addicts, we’re always looking for ways to improve our look or redefine ourselves in any visible way. We change our makeup, hair and clothes according to the seasons and even between seasons! For social butterflies, being slaves to the ever-changing fashion world is a must. We’re constantly on the prowl for the new and never-before-seen looks and to show it off at the next event first! For those that have run out of ideas or are looking for a more cost-effective way to create a new look, I’ve gathered some inspiring hair ideas for your weekend!

Personally my favorite but a bit hard to pull off is the over-usage of plastic hairbands seen on the YSL runway. Keep in mind that you’ll need to layer and use anywhere from 6-10 various plastic bands. This look is probably best for oval shaped faces, but you can try it just to see if it flatters your bone structure.

Begin by sweeping your hair into a high knot pony tail. Since the plastic bands expand and conform to your headshape, you canbegin by starting at the front of your forhead and slipping each band one by one back. It should look like the photo below. Try it with a messy knot on top, or leave your ponytail down for a different look. I’d probably wear this style with edgier/darker clothes since the look is considered sleek and harsh.

For a different twist on the ponytail, slick your hair back and use an elastic to create a low ponytail. Split the ponytail into two smaller ones. Attach colored extensions on either half or even both. Once they’re attached, twist each half of the pony tail w/ the extensions. Then, twist both halves of the pony tail together to create the look below. Secure it with an elastic at the ends, or you can continue to twist the hair into a bun and secure with pins. Zac Posen kept his runway look fresh, sleek and upbeat with colored extensions in all his models’ ponytails. Try this for a brunch get together or simple dinner outing.

For those with a more romantic and whimsical personality, the look below might be more suitable. Seen all over the runway of Chanel were wispy face framing strands of hair and high loose knots of hair embellished with a large jeweled accessory. Everything was seen from gold leaves to large flowers. This is personally my favorite look. It’s probably the easiest to re-create and will take all but 5 minutes.

Begin by blowdrying your hair with a flat-paddle brush to smooth the hair. If necessary, use mousse to create a bit of volume before you blowdry. After your hair is dry, finger comb and pull up into a high ponytail. Slightly angle it to the side and tuck loose hairs under for a messy slightly off-center knot. Finish off the look by pinning large flowers to the base of the ponytail/knot or pinning large jeweled accessories near the crown. The look is both fanciful and sweet! Although, I do think there are age limitations to this look. :P

Avant-garde anyone? This one was just interesting so I had to post it. Feathers for bangs! I would only approve this look for an evening cocktail event or museum gala opening. All others, steer clear of this. You could very well end up being stared at for all the wrong reasons!

I actually think this looks great on her. I’m not sure if it’s for a role she’s doing or that she’s just bored of her previous blonde hair, but either way I’m liking it! The color compliments her skin tone really well. If you don’t know how to match your own hair color to your skin tone, try our guide here.

While Alba’s decided to leave her blonde locks behind, Rihanna has gone full force with blonde streaks. It’s not the worst I’ve seen, but it’s definitely off in a very very bad way.

The pic is a bit blurry, but I do love Khloe Kardashian’s hair she had for her wedding over the weekend to Lamar Odom. You can never go wrong with long wavy hair… and did i mention her ring is 9-carats?

And, now that Kate Gosselin is a co-host on ABC’s The View, I’m glad to see she’s actually ditched her reverse mullet style! Yay! Her new hair is wavy and actually cute.

So far, the most eye-catching celeb hairtrends I’ve seen in the past couple weeks, for better or for worse!

Nancy http:// <![CDATA[Interesting Runway Hair for Spring 2010]]> http://site.voguewigs.com/blog/?p=260 2009-09-16T22:45:00Z 2009-09-16T22:38:32Z Marc Jacobs take for his 2010 s/s show was ivory porcelein faces, red doll lips with tons of black liquid eyeliner. The hair? an barely attractive top knot. The look reminds me of Olive Oil from the Popeye cartoon. I’m not sure if he was going for the mime look, but that’s what comes across to me. However, hair and makeup aside, I’m still loving his ready-to-wear line. Can’t wait for the line to hit stores.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs line sports more playful and whimsical styles with over sized bow accessories and a loosely tucked french twist. I’m liking this look for younger girls. It’s actually wearable and would look great out on the streets shopping or lounging on Melrose.

Vera Wang opted for nude makeup, defined brows and a loose bouffant with low tucked chignon. This look is great for work or nights when the look calls to be more refined and put together. The overall look is so understated that oversized and overjewelled accessories are a must to pull off this look in my opinion.

The 80’s are back at Derek Lam’s show. The makeup is inspired by Coney Island and the movie Body Heat. For a dangerous and edgy look, you can try this style. I’m not sure about walking out in broad daylight with the makeup though. That might have to be reserved for your own photo shoots or an underground club.

Goddess waves and bohemian flower child hair accessories tipped in gold were spotted at Diane Von Furstenberg’s show. I’ve always loved mermaid waves. Goddess waves are right up there as well. This look is perfect for the boho-chic girl in everyone. If you’re hair is absurdly short but want that look anyway, just add the accessories. I just had to include this photo since she’s my favorite model right now. You might recognize her from Barney’s recent denim catalogue. You can never go wrong w/ androgyny in fashion!

Nancy http:// <![CDATA[Most Popular Hollywood Haircuts Right Now]]> http://blog.voguewigs.com/2009/09/01/most-popular-hollywood-haircuts-right-now/ 2009-09-01T21:54:45Z 2009-09-01T20:08:45Z Here’s a quick look at the hottest haircuts in Hollywood right now. From short crops to full and flowing locks, we’ve covered it all. There’s a top style for every person here!

For a assymetrical take on a pixie cut, try Rihanna’s close crop with long layers in the front. For added attitude, be sure to try out skinny streaks in blonde for darker hair.

masl02_closecrop_rihanna.jpg

Try deep, blunt bangs. I’m not a big fan of this hairstyle as it’s really hard to pull off. Even on super model Agyness Deyn I don’t think it’s that great. However, if you’re looking for something totally different and attention getting, you could try this option.

masl01_closecrop_agyness.jpg

Another great short crop right now is Halle Barry’s pixie. Try styling this with a bit of pomade or hair wax, grabbing the tips of the hair in random directions to add texture to the style.

masl03_closecrop_halle.jpg

Katie Holme’s bob is one of my favorite looks. It’s clean and polished with long layers. The A-line shape gives it a modern look that’s sleek and refined.
masl12_bob_katie.jpg

I love this bob on Reese Witherspoon. The wavy texture really creates a soft and glamorous look. I would use a diffuser for this when your hair is half dry, after brushing styling cream through your hair.
masl11_bob_reese.jpg

Another classic take on the bob here. Michelle Obama’s diagonally side-parted bob is elegant and flattering. Be sure to use smoothing cream and a shine spray to control friz and fly-aways for this style.

masl10_bob_michelle.jpg

Leslie Bibb sports a textured bob with long eye-level bangs. This haircut is best styled with some mousse at the roots for volume and thickening spray for added texture to create the piecey look.

masl13_bob_leslie.jpg

I especially like this style, and not just because it’s on Kate Moss. It’s undeniable she always looks fabubulous, but this mid-length cut with long layers and thick eye-level bangs is perfect for a more dramatic look. Be sure to curl the ends inwards with a large barrel curling iron and finish off with a shine serum.

masl07_midlength_kate.jpg

Selma Blair’s rendition of the mid-length layered look with long bangs is also a lively look to try. This one has more layers than Kate’s style. The chin-length layers add more movement to the style and a softer more subtle appeal. Style with some texturizing paste on the ends for separation and blow dry w/ a medium-barrel brush to give volume to the bangs.

masl08_midlength_selma.jpg

For those that don’t like to have bangs or are unsuitable for them, you can try Gwenyth Paltrow’s style. The long chopped ends give this look a naturally edgy feel. Subtle texture and waves give the hairstyle some movement and life. This look is good with an outfit with sharp lines for contrast against the textured hair.
masl09_midlength_gwyneth.jpg

JLo has a fantastic mane is full of volume and shape. Her long angled layers and bangs add life to an otherwise long and boring hairstyle. The thinned ends helps add volume and body to the hair.

Feel free to leave a comment or message if you need help with styling options or suggestions on how to achieve the looks without cutting your hair! ;)

Nancy http:// <![CDATA[Inspired by the Duchess from Joico]]> http://blog.voguewigs.com/2009/08/13/inspired-by-the-duchess-from-joico/ 2009-08-13T21:41:35Z 2009-08-13T21:39:53Z There are everyday wearable hairstyles that we can walk out the door with. It’s rare if not never that we see inspirations of art created passing before us on the street while making our way to work. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t pieces of creativity all around us. Art can be expressed in many forms, and even the hair on our head can be used as a medium. While browsing through hair products to help with tips on hair care, I came across these photos. Deemed Duchess by creators at Joico, this vision expresses the duality that both raw and refined elements can co-exist to bring forth a truly modern statement.

Color design and cut can express dual personalities depending on how the hair is moved. Soft waves or edgy appeal both evoke emotion from the observer. The power in art is its ability to evoke emotion.

Although these ideas don’t conform to everyday living, I am still inspired.
